One of the little-studied, yet highly relevant issues illuminating the ancient past of the Azerbaijani people is the study, development, and evolution of weapons and military affairs.

Over the course of many years of archaeological investigations of Karabakh sites, a significant number of weapons, protective facilities, military equipment, and other military-related materials has been accumulated, requiring systematization, scientific analysis, and detailed interpretation.

Despite the fact that individual articles and general monographs have addressed the issue of weapons, there are no specialized studies reflecting the multifaceted aspects of weapons and military affairs in archaeological literature of homeland.
